Macro Photography-Tulip

A delicate tulip looks entirely different when viewed up close through a macro lens.

Tony Nightingale's Photos

Artist Info:

My interest in photography began when I bought a Brownie box camera at the age of 12. I later graduated to a Fujica 35 mm camera with wide angle and telephoto lenses. I learned how to develop and print my own black and white photos and often used colour transparencies.

Although I was happy with some of the results, I mainly used photos as source material for my paintings and prints. Somewhere along the line I bought a Rolleiflex and a Polaroid to experiment with. I also had a Canon 35mm film camera but a couple of years ago I decided it was time to go digital so I bought a Canon DSLR EOS 1000D and started to look at photos as an end in themselves. Just recently I have added a Canon 60mm Macro lens to the 18-55mm and 75-300mm lenses I already had.

A whole new world has opened up and the most seemingly mundane subject matter has become stunningly beautiful. A microcosm has become a universe.
